Dan Gurney, Eagle Weslake 1967
This model, in assembly and re-design phase, starting from a 1/43 SMTS kit, pays homage to one of the most beautiful cars that, in my opinion, ever raced in Formula 1. This version represents the only victory of the American pilot Dan Gurney in Belgium GP (1967 F1 Championship). The “Eagle” was strongly demanded and ideated by Dan Gurney and Harry Weslake, from whom comes the name of the 12 cylinders engine (V12), one of the few of this type. This racing car marked that age being as well the only American F1 model racing during 60’s.
In the whole F1 history, Dan Gurney had been the only American pilot winning a GP driving a self-constructed car. The “Eagle Weslake” #36 won the race in 1h40’49’’459, leaving behind aces like Jackie Steward and Jim Clark and obtaining the best lap too. His career ended in 1970 after England GP.
