Porsche 356 Speedster 1956

The Porsche 356 was the first production car started by the company in 1948. Created by Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche (son of the homonymous founder ), the 356’s body was an original design by the factory employee Erwin Komenda , while its mechanicals (including engine, suspension and chassis) were derived from the Volkswagen. One of the most desirable collector models is the 356 "Speedster” which marked the production in 1954 with the first 200 exemplars. Max Hoffman, the sole importer into the U.S. distributed [...]

Ferrari 126 C3, Hockenheimring '83 René Arnoux Winner

It was the first car with carbon fibre chassis with car body functions. The Ferrari adopted the big rear wing for the German circuit, usually employed in slow racetracks. This as a trade-off to obtain a good road holding, both in the fast part and in the classic Motodrom, slower and challenging. Tambay just steals Arnoux the pole position, but during the second lap, after the Ostkurve, Arnoux suddenly overtakes him. Few laps later, Tambay retires because of a valve failure in the first cylinder.[...]

Dan Gurney, Eagle Weslake 1967

Dan Gurney, Eagle Weslake 1967

This model, in assembly and re-design phase, starting from a 1/43 SMTS kit, pays homage to one of the most beautiful cars that, in my opinion, ever raced in Formula 1. This version represents the only victory of the American pilot Dan Gurney in Belgium GP (1967 F1 Championship). The “Eagle” was strongly demanded and ideated by Dan Gurney and Harry Weslake, from whom comes the name of the 12 cylinders engine (V12), one of the few of this type. This racing car marked that age being as well the only American F1 model racing during 60’s.[...]

Maserati Birdcage 1961 longtail

Pictures in this section show the various assembling phases of the model, with particular attention to self-built details. Starting from a 1/43 AMR kit, the “Maserati Birdcage 1961 longtail” was modified by eliminating some basic parts in order to embellish them with new components built from scratch (see captions). For the full building process 120 hours were necessary, 40 hours of which for solely soldering together the cage rods.

Ferrari California LWB

The “Ferrari 250 LWB California” was created by the Modena designer Sergio Scaglietti, who is the idea man behind all “berlinette” and “spider” from Ferrari in the years from 1960 to 1993. In the following pictures all details during assembling phase of a 1/43 AMR kit are presented. Each single image is provided with the relative caption.
